The Commodore John Barry Arts and Cultural Center is a non-smoking, air conditioned facility, with handicapped access. The elevator is located at street level and can be accessed through the garage underneath the Ballroom.
All room rentals require a $100 deposit ($200 deposit for the Ballroom), 50% payment 30 days prior to the event, and the balance 14 days prior to the event. All deposits and payments are non-refundable.
City of Philadelphia Health Department regulations prohibit us from allowing food to be brought into our facility from non-inspected facilities or private homes. Our standard rental rates are for five hours, and we feature open bar packages in lieu of room rentals.
Dining Room
The Dining Room is a pleasant, air-conditioned, non-smoking, carpeted sunny room that has a seated capacity of 30 people around tables, or up to 95 people theater style.
The tables are round and seat four persons; there are also several larger rectangular tables seating six to eight persons.
This room is ideal for showers, birthdays, and lunch or dinner parties.
Fireside Room and Bar Area
The Fireside Room is adjacent to the main bar. The room is air-conditioned and also contains a working fireplace and hearthside cushioned benches, which give the room an intimate and homelike atmosphere.
Most seating is at round tables, each of which will seat four persons for a seating capacity of 36, or if needed, we can arrange the room with larger round tables to increase seating capacity to 50 people.
There is seating around the bar for an additional 40 people. There are four high definition television sets as well. Bar facilities can be included, but the club will provide all bartenders and liquor.
The beautiful hardwood dance floor makes this room a great location for a private party or family reunion.
The room can also be set up for a small concert with seating up to 140, including the seating in the bar area.
Barry Room
The Barry Room is situated between the Fireside Room and Ballroom, and has a capacity of 148 people.
There is room for dancing by limiting the seating capacity to 100 people.
Seating arrangements can be made for eight or 10 people per table at round tables of various sizes. Bar facilities can be included, but the club will provide all bartenders and liquor.
Ballroom
The ballroom is one of the largest in the area. It is a non-smoking facility, fully air-conditioned, with a private entrance, a comfortable lounge area, and recently installed elevator.
The ballroom offers a stage and a large dance floor. It has a capacity of 550 people seated theater-style, or the room can be arranged for dancing, with tables and chairs for up to 340 people.
Seating is provided at round tables of various sizes that will seat eight, 10, or 12 persons.
There are also six 12-foot A-frame tables that may be utilized, and five 8-foot rectangular tables. Bar facilities can be included with two separate bars available to the room.
The club will provide all bartenders and liquor.
